We started The Snoot Scoop because Central Illinois deserved a pet newsletter that actually felt local — warm, practical, and written by people who know what it’s like to share a couch with a dog and a cat who don’t always agree on the seating arrangement.
It started with a simple question.
Why isn’t there a newsletter for pet owners in Central Illinois? Not a national publication with generic advice, not a corporate pet brand trying to sell you something — just a friendly, weekly read from neighbors who love their animals and want to share what they’ve learned.
So we built one. The Snoot Scoop launched as a passion project rooted in Washington, IL, with one goal: give local dog and cat owners something genuinely worth reading every week. Real pet tips. Real community stories. Real product recommendations from people who’ve actually tried them.
We have dogs. We have cats. We’ve dealt with the vet visits, the mystery limps, the 3am zoomies, and the inexplicable hatred of the vacuum cleaner. We write from that place — and we think it shows.
