What makes a great submission?
We read every single submission. The pets that get featured aren’t always the most photogenic — they’re the ones with a story worth sharing.
A rescue with a rough start. A cat who adopted a family instead of the other way around. A dog who somehow became the neighborhood mascot. Those are the stories our readers love.
A clear, bright photo
Natural light works best. We don’t need professional quality — just a photo where we can actually see your pet’s face.
A real story
Tell us something specific — a habit, a quirk, a moment that made you laugh or cry. Generic descriptions don’t stand out.
Illinois connection
We prioritize pets from Central Illinois but feature pets from across the state.
